7 of the Best Fireplaces in the Snowies.

Baby it’s cold outside!

Your winter Snowy Mountains experience would not be complete without a tasty beverage or two in front of a roaring fireplace. We’ve listed just a few of our top spots for a drop by the fire below.

Shut The Gate, Berridale

Our favourite cellar door is the perfect spot for wet, windy & chilly days boasting two toasty fireplaces surrounded by comfortable lounges, armchairs & of course… good wine. Settle in, grab a cheese board & sink into the afternoon with a glass of their delicious Grenache or Tempranillo.

Banjo Paterson Inn, Jindabyne

Hang out where the locals drink. The traditional stone fireplace takes up residence in Muster’s Bar and is the perfect spot for a pint, watching footy & some hearty pub grub.

Horizons at Rydges, Jindabyne

You will be spoilt for choice with multiple 360-degree fireplaces to enjoy with a cocktail, coffee or good book. The hotel also has an impressive fire pit in the outdoor courtyard for those cooler days.

Thredbo Alpine Hotel

Straight from the slopes, you can enjoy the unique Alpine après atmosphere alongside half a dozen of their toasty fire pits. You can even have a boogie in your ski gear by the outdoor pits as headliner DJs take the stage and deliver party vibes from afternoon to the early evening.

If you are looking for something a little more low-key? Just head indoors to the cocktail bar and get comfy by their impressive indoor fireplace with an espresso martini or two.

The Alpine Hotel, Cooma

Located in the heart of Cooma and loved by locals this show-stopping fireplace takes prime position in the Alpine Hotel’s backyard aka beer garden. It is a striking feature of the courtyard & is surely one of the most uniquely designed chimneys in Australia, with the flue constructed from empty beer kegs.

Snowy Mountains Travellers Rest, Cooma

There is no shortage of impressive fireplaces at the Travellers Rest. Dine by the cosy fireplace in Restaurant 1861 or enjoy a whisky by the warmth of the fire in their newly completed Bar 1861. You can also take a wander outside and gaze at the stunning outdoor brick fireplace with rows of beautiful festoon lights hanging above.
